The Pre-school is a registered charity providing a community facility and is run by a committee of elected parents. These members are elected each year at our AGM. Any parent can stand for election onto the committee.
The role of the committee is to assist the staff with the management of the group, manage the organisations finances, and to help out within the sessions when activities may need extra adults.
As a charity it is important for us to organise fund-raising events such as coffee mornings, prize draws and Fayres to raise money for the maintenance and purchase of toys and equipment and towards running costs of the preschool.
The committee usually meets once a month. The meetings are very informal and can be held in the home of one of the members or at another suitable venue. We have 3 elected officers, who are supported by all the other committee and volunteer helpers. As the children move on to school their parents leave the committee, so it is a wonderful opportunity for new parents to take an active role in their own child’s development and early years education and also to make new friends.
